Choose the type of work first, then take or pick the photo.
Before you shoot
- Daylight, flash off.
- Wipe the lens first.
- Phone sideways, and hold still.
- No faces, no house numbers, no mess in the frame.
- The whole room from a corner, then one wall straight on.
- One close-up of a cut line: wall to ceiling, or along the trim.
- Daylight, flash off, and the window to your side, not behind the wall.
- Furniture back in place and the floor clear before you shoot.
- The whole house from across the street, phone sideways.
- Each side you painted, straight on, from the same distance.
- Before and after from the very same spot, pointing the same way.
- No house number, no car plate, no ladder left in the frame.
- Before and after from the very same spot: that is the whole photo.
- The full driveway or walkway, standing at one end.
- Wait until the surface is dry; wet concrete looks darker than it is.
- One shot half-way through: the clean part next to the dirty part.
- The damage close up, BEFORE you touch it.
- The patch after paint, from the same spot: a good repair disappears.
- Light from the side, so the wall shows flat and smooth.
- Step back once more so the whole wall is in the picture.
- The whole deck from the yard, low, with the boards running away from you.
- One close-up of the boards and one of a railing, after the stain has dried.
- Before and after from the same spot, in the same light.
- Furniture and planters off the deck before you shoot.
